Spotlight on Arkansas HOBY Alumni

Ryan Pitchford
HOBY Ambassador Year: 2008
Occupation: Senior at De Queen High School
Current Location: De Queen, Arkansas

Q:  How has HOBY impacted your life?
Ryan:  HOBY has made me who I am as a senior in high school. I would like to thank Arkansas HOBY for allowing me to represent the state at the 2008 WLC. I felt the "OUTSTANDING" in life when I went through this wonderful program and I am still learning more about myself. Every day when I look at my HOBY picture in my room, I remember to give before taking anything when someone is in need of something. I am glad to continue with this OUTSTANDING program.

Q:  What's your favorite HOBY memory?
Ryan: My favorite memory of HOBY would have to be when Nurse Penny told me that I was old enough to take my meds by myself. I have many more favorite memories about HOBY, but I will always remember when Jessica Morgan told me that I was going to be a JC in 2009. Arkansas HOBY is an OUTSTANDING family!

James Delph
HOBY Ambassador Year: 2004
Occupation: Student at the University of Central Arkansas
Current Location: Conway, Arkansas

Q:  How has HOBY impacted your life?
James:  HOBY has impacted me in so many different ways, it would be hard to imagine my life if I hadn't attended the conference. HOBY taught me how to be a leader while interacting with other leaders. HOBY helped to teach me what it takes to be a leader in today's society. Through my involvement and love for HOBY I have tried to pass on those same skills to the ambassadors today. The main reason why I stay involved with HOBY, is to pass on the spirit of HOBY.

Q:  What are you most proud of since your HOBY experience?
James:  I love hearing from ambassadors who have attended the Arkansas Seminar after me. I consistently hear from those ambassadors that the seminar was very rewarding for them. That they took a lot of knowledge home from it, and that the seminar has made them a better person. To me, this is what HOBY is about, passing the torch to light the future! Knowing I was a part of the seminar that provided the ambassadors this opportunity, that makes me proud!
